Pyrography, Designs by Ryn and Silks Acrylics!

Hello bloggers!

I'm so lucky to be on the design team of Designs by Ryn, and I'm always trying to think of new ways to use the stamps to show people how beautiful and versatile they are. To be honest I don't think anyone needs to be convinced about how beautiful Ryn's designs are, they speak for themselves!, but part of being on a design team is coming up with new ideas. When I was introduced to Pyrography I realised this may be a new way to use all my stamps!

First of all I stamped the designs onto a circular plaque and then burnt the designs into the wood with the Pyrography tool...

Then I painted with Silks Acrylics paint from Colourarte, they have a beautiful shimmer that is perfect for hummingbirds!

Part of me wishes I had kept the background as plain wood rather than the light blue, but you don't know what things will look like until you try!

Really love this vibrant pink!...

The stamps I used were Booted-Racket tail Hummingbird, Sideways Hibiscus, Hibiscus Leaf Set and Spiral Branch Set. All available from www.designsbyryn.com

Thank you for popping by! Xxx

My first attempt at Pyrography!

Hello bloggers!

My lovely, talented friend who writes a superb blog- www.mudlarksandmagpies.blogspot.co.uk has inspired me to try Pyrography, burning designs into wood or leather, great fun!

I bought my 'tool' this afternoon, along with a few pieces of plywood and set about burning a design. I stamped some of the beautiful images from Designs by Ryn (Spiral Shell, Sea Bubbles and Raindrops) onto the wood and then when the tool was hot I burnt the designs into the wood. I coloured the piece with watered-down acrylic paint as my friend describes on her blog (you really should pop over and have a read, it's so interesting!)

Thank you for visiting, big hug! Xxx

New Hummingbirds from Designs by Ryn!

Hello bloggers!

Last week I received an amazing parcel full of beautiful Hummingbird stamps from Ryn in Canada, they are her latest release and are available (along with the other stamps) now HERE!

Here's my DT post with one of these beauties! I've made a Distress Ink background and stamped over the top with Leafy Branch. The pretty flower is called African Daisy and the leaves behind the daisy are from the Hibiscus set. The Red-tailed Comet Hummingbird is from the unmounted sheet 'Hummingbirds 2'. The flower and bird are coloured with Tombow pens and water.

I added Liquid Pearls to the background and Stickles glitter to the bird (so annoying that I can never capture the pretty sparkle in photos!!). I hope you like both the stamps and the card, thank you for visiting! Xxx

Urban beauty

Hello!

Hope you all enjoying the beautiful sunshine today? I've had a very 'homemade' day today, I've made a cake, a loaf of bread and a card! This card was made using a Bister background, a portion of a large Carabelle Studio stamp, my fave poppy from Stampinback and the amazing water trickles from Designs by Ryn.

Thank you for visiting! Xxx

More watercolour fun!

Hello bloggers!

I had another play with watercolour and salt. A few people asked how I made this background so I'll give you a description. I scribbled onto watercolour card with Tombow pens, spritzed with water and then sprinkled on some salt. It was left alone to dry naturally and then the salt was rubbed off. Et voila!

I used the lovely Maidenhair Fern stencil from Designs by Ryn with Inca Gold paint in Silver and the small butterfly from Visible Image. The sentiment is one of Sir Tim's!

I hope you like it! Thank you for visiting, big hug! Xx

Hello bloggers!

I've used the fabulous extra large stamp 'Swallowtail' from Stampin' Up to make this card. I stamped the butterfly in Archival ink and coloured it with Distress Ink. This lovely stamp is available in my Stampin' Up web shop, which you can access from the button at the top of the side bar on the right! --->

Lavinia Stamps Challenge time!

Hello lovelies!

It's time for another Lavinia Stamps challenge, and this month we would love to see 'Anything But A Card'!

Here's my bit of inspiration for you...

I bought this wooden shape from The Range and painted it with Paper Artsy Fresco Finish Chalk paints. I used Lavinia Stamps and Versafine inks to decorate it and added sparkle with a silver glitter pen and Stickles glitter glue.

The prize is an amazing £40 to spend in the Lavinia store, so join in and you might get lucky in the draw! You don't need a blog to enter, you can send in your photo by email via the challenge blog, good luck! Xx
